Nairobi, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) After four days of reflection, celebrations and serious debates the VII World Social Forum (WSF) concluded with a note of optimism for those who believe in a viable transformation of the world.
"We took big steps in the general process because participants came to Nairobi willing to talk, learn from others, and find new paths and proposals," considered Brazilian Francisco Whitaker.
As one of the founders of the WSF, Whitaker told Prensa Latina that one of the merits was the formation of new alliances, while water in different regions was one of the top issues.
For his part, Orlando Blanco, leader of the Guatemalan Social Organizations Collective (COS) considered the forum as a space of convergence of different world social expressions after seven years of experiences.
"We were able to discuss, think and propose our views on the main problems, fundamentally on neo-liberal policies affecting different spheres of human life, health, education and the world," Blanco affirmed.
He also mentioned the need to build an alternative model like socialism, which appears in the public arena again.
